Europese Parlement vandeesweek: Voorkoming van radikalisering, Iran deal, Oekraïne, EU banksektor
On Monday (19 October) members of Parliament's civil liberties committee voted on a resolution on how to prevent the radicalization and recruitment of young Europeans by terrorist organizations. Fighting radicalization online and in prisons are important aspects of the resolution.
On the same day, the economic and monetary affairs committee debates the Single Supervisory Mechanism (SSM) with ECB Supervisory Board Chair Danièle Nouy. The aim of the SSM is to ensure financial stability and the safety of the European banking system.
The EU's strategy towards Iran following the nuclear deal will be discussed in a public hearing with experts organized by the foreign affairs committee on Monday.
A parliamentary delegation is in Ukraine from this Thursday to observe local elections which will be held on 25 October throughout the country, except in the regions of Donetsk and Luhansk.
Mediterranea, Mustang en Urok, the three finalists competing for the 2015 LUX Film Prize, will be screened as part of the LUX Film Days at film festivals as well as in special screenings and events across Europe. The three finalists are subtitled in all 24 of the EU's official languages.
Parliament's political groups also prepare this week for the plenary session in Strasbourg on 26-29 October.
