#LuxPrize: 10 jaar van die bevordering van Europese films

20161007pht46156_width_600The Lux Film Prize is the European Parliament's way to help promote European cinema and this year the award is already celebrating its 10th anniversary. To celebrate several activities have been planned including a public debate and a live interview on Facebook with renowned directors.This evening last year's winning film Mustang will be screened in 28 cinemas across Europe. Afterwards its director Deniz Gamze Erguven will answers questions from film fans during a Q&A session on Twitter.

Parliament's culture committee is holding a openbare debat on European cinema today from 17h to 18h30 CET.  Film director Ken Loach will make a speech, while other speakers include scriptwriter Céline Sciamma, whose film Ma Vie De Courgette is nominated for this year's Lux Prize, and director Andrea Segre, whose film Shun Li en die digter won the 2012 Lux Prize.

Also tonight last year's winner Mustang will be shown simultaneously across the EU from 20.00 CET. One cinema in each EU country will take part in this unique European premiere. After the screening the audience will have the opportunity to ask director Deniz Gamze Erguven questions during a Q&A session on Twitter. The debate will be gestroom from 21h50 CET and people can join the discussion using the #luxprize hashtag.

The aim of the Lux Prize is to support the production and distribution of European movies, to spark reflection on current political and social issues and to celebrate European culture. Find out all about it in this top storie.
