Hoë verteenwoordiger / vise-president Josep Borrell neem deel aan # G5SahelSummit in #Pau
On Monday (13 January) High Representative/Vice President Josep Borrell (Foto) and European Council President Charles Michel too part in the working dinner that closed the G5 Sahel leaders' summit in Pau, France, at the invitation of the President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron.
They joined the President of the French Republic and the heads of state of the member countries of the G5 Sahel: the President of the Republic of Mali, Ibrahim Boubacar Keita, the President of Burkina Faso, Roch Marc Christian Kabore, the President of the Republic from Niger, Mahamadou Issoufou, the President of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, Mohamed Ould Ghanzouani and the President of the Republic of Chad, Idriss Deby. This dinner is an opportunity for High Representative / Vice-President Borrell to reaffirm the European Union's unwavering support for security, stabilization and development in the Sahel, as well as its attachment to close co-operation with the countries members of the G5 Sahel. António Guterres, Secretary General of the United Nations, Moussa Faki, President of the Commission of the African Union, and Louise Mushikiwabo, Secretary General of the International Organization of La Francophonie will also participate in the discussions.
